What is voice recording?

  • Voice recording is the act of recording a user’s spoken thoughts and ideas, usually in a sound format, like .mp3 or .wav file, which others can play back and listen to.

Where is voice recording available?

  • There are several digital tools that offer students and teachers the option to record their voices: Read & Write Extension for Google Chrome, Google Slides, Pear Deck (teachers record their voice), Chatterpix Kids iPad app, Book Creator (iPad and Chrome), voice memos on iOS & Android, and FlipGrid.

How is it beneficial to students?

  • Speed up the brainstorming process
  • Focus on ideas rather than the writing process and spelling errors
  • Assist students in listening for expression, tone and fluency when speaking
  • Allows students to complete assignments in a format which most of them are already familiar with
