Sign up for a free library card at Frederick County Public Libraries (FCPL) and you have access to much more than physical books.  There are numerous digital services that provide a wide range of audio books and eBooks, which can be downloaded onto tablets and personal devices.  FCPS students should have the ability to sign up for an FCPL card through their school.  Talk with your media specialist for additional information.

Where do you find these services?

  1. Login to the FCPL page with your library card.
  2. Click the Downloads tab.
  3. Choose Audiobooks, eBooks or eBooks for Kids.
  4. Follow the directions for each service to access them on your device.

A few of the services that are available:

  1. Bookflix for Children: an online literacy program for children that pairs classic video storybooks with nonfiction ebooks
     
  2. Freedom Flix:  brings history to life by capturing the dramatic and defining moments in American History.  Read the book, watch the video, find project ideas, activities, and other ways to explore the topic.
     
  3. Hoopla Digital: offers thousands of movies, television shows, music albums,comics, audiobooks, and ebooks. 
     
  4. Libby for Kids by Overdrive: offers both popular fiction and non-fiction ebooks and audiobooks and over 3000 popular magazines.
     
  5. TrueFlix: Brings True Books to life. Read the book, watch the video, find projects idea, activities, and other ways to explore the topic.
