How are closed captions beneficial to all students?

  • Research has determined that CC help improve listening comprehension and learning how to read.
  • According to Morton Ann Gernsbacher’s article Video Captions Benefit Everyone, “learning to read is a complex process, which requires learning to map sound and meaning to text.  Because captions explicitly  illustrate mapping among sound, meaning, and text, captions could benefit hearing children learn to read.”
