STUDENT SERVICE LEARNING & COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERING In School. FCPS has an approved program enabliing students to meet the Maryland service-learning graduation requirement through studies infused into selected 6th to 12th grade courses. See the Middle School Course Guide and High School Course Guide for course lists.
Beyond the Classroom. Many students go beyond Maryland’s graduation requirement and participate in volunteer/community service activities after school, on weekends and during the summer. Students are encouraged to identify and participate in these experiences, with the objective to instill a lifelong spirit of community activism and involvement. Students who complete 75 hours or more of volunteer/community service experiences are recognized annually at the individual schools. Get instructions and forms for recording and documenting additional volunteer/community service beyond that earned in school.
