Attendance

Need to report and absence or take your child out of school? Please contact our attendance office:

LHS.Attendance@fcps.org or 227-203-3500, option 2.

Regular daily attendance is expected and critical to a child's academic success. Parents' support of regular daily attendance is essential. Parents are encouraged to notify the school on the day their child is absent. A note stating the reason for absence or lateness is required upon students' return, or the absence is automatically classified as unlawful until an approved note is provided. Students who were absent from school have the responsibility to request make-up work within two days of their return. For details, please see Regulation 400-98.

Athletes and Attendance

Athletes: School Daily Attendance - 7:30AM is the expectation!

Exceptional school attendance is a requirement for participation in an athletic program in order to succeed academically and maintain the appropriate commitment to the athletic program.  Students must make attending the entire school day on a daily basis a priority.

  • In order to participate in a game or practice, a student must attend school for the full day.
  • A full day is defined as arriving at all classes on time.
  • If a student is late to school for any reason they will be ineligible to participate that day.
  • The administration may waive this policy in the case of extenuating circumstances.
  • If a student misses any time after 7:30am, then a note must be from a medical appointment, signed by the office.
  • Doctor’s appointment notes can only excuse an appropriate length of absence for the type of appointment and location.
  • Approved documentation MUST be provided to attendance upon return AND a copy must be shown to the coaching staff prior to being eligible to participate.

Appointments for purposes of driver’s licenses or other business with the Motor Vehicle Association are unexcused absences and will not be approved for athletic participation.
