Your initial temporary password
- Your temporary password is as follows: (with no spaces)
- Last initial capitalized
- First initial capitalized
- 2 digit birth month
- 2 digit birth year
- Last 3 digits of your social security number
- $
- Example: Jane Doe, born 02-04-88, with social security #123-45-4321, would have an initial password of DJ0288321$
- You must log into your email account within 7 days or your account will be disabled.
- Directions for logging on are in the Online Onboarding below.
Logging into your FCPS Email (OWA) for first time
- From any computer go to http://mail.fcps.org
- Do NOT include www in the address
- You may wish to add this site to your Favorites or create a shortcut on your desktop for fast access to your email login screen
Sign in process
- The FCPS Sign in screen will appear

- In the User name box, enter your firstname.lastname@fcps.org
- Under “Authentication options” click on Password

- In the Password box, enter your temporary password (see section above)
- Click Next
Changing your password - First Time Logging into your Email you MUST Change your Password
- The FCPS Change/Update Password screen will appear
- Type in your email address
- Type your Current Password (this would be your temporary password)
- Enter your new Password (must be 8 or more characters and include the following: capitalization, special character, number)
- Enter your new Password again
- Click Submit
- Click OK
Enroll in Multifactor Authentication
Multifactor authentication (MFA) adds another layer of protection to the sign-in process. When accessing accounts or apps, users provide additional identity verification, such as entering a code received by phone. Two-step verification is a form of Multifactor authentication. Once registered - to access accounts/applications off network – MFA will be used.
- You will be automatically redirected into the process once you have signed in to email with your new password.

- Click Next on the “More information required” screen.

- When you get to the “Microsoft Authenticator, Start by getting the app” screen, scroll down to click on I want to set up a different method.

- Choose your preferred method, in this case Phone.
- Enter your phone number and choose whether to receive texts or phone calls.

- Verify your phone number by following the directions (if chose phone call) or entering the 6-digit code you received (if chose text), then click Next.

- Once successfully verified, click on Done. You can now sign in to FCPS email for the first time.
Enroll in the Password Management
- By enrolling in the Password Management System, you can reset your password if you have forgotten it or unlock your account without having to call the Helpdesk
- Go to either http://mail.fcps.org and click on Password Reset Service: enroll or manage enrollment

- Enter your Username (first.last) and Password. Click Login.

- Complete the screens that follow to finish the enrollment process
- You will get an email confirmation when you are successfully enrolled
- You can login at any time to update or change your answers/questions, unlock your account or change your password
