Academy for the Fine Arts
The Academy for the Fine Arts (AFA) at Governor Thomas Johnson High School offers Frederick County high school students in grades 10 to 12, with an interest in the arts, the opportunity to take exceptional classes in the visual and performing arts. AFA offers college level courses with an intense curriculum to challenge and engage students. The academic program will allow for student refinement of individual artistic styles/techniques and portfolio development. AFA students will be given opportunities to enhance and enrich knowledge via field trips, concerts, plays, museums, workshops, and interaction with professional artists and mentors. Students enrolled in the academy will be assisted in portfolio development along with preparation for the finest colleges and careers in the fields of fine and performing arts. AFA offers courses of study in dance,music, theatre, and visual arts.
