Applying to CTC

Applying to CTC is a competitive application process that involves both your high school and CTC. It is a fair process that includes reviewing your application, grades, attendance and shadow evaluation.  Some programs have pre-requisites and additional acceptance criteria.  Specific course information is outlined in the individual program descriptions and in the FCPS course guide.

The shadowing & application process takes place the year before the student would like to enroll and runs November through February each school year.  Applications are accepted at any time during that time period.  Applications are accepted after February only for programs that still have available space.  Click here to learn more about the acceptance criteria.  If you are accepted into a CTC program you will receive confirmation directly from the Career & Technology Center in April.  Students interested in applying to a CTC program must first schedule a shadow experience for the program(s) they would like to apply for. Shadowing must take place the year the application is submitted.  Click here for more information about the shadowing process.
