Applying to CTC

Applying to CTC is a competitive application process that involves both your high school and CTC. It is a fair process that includes reviewing your application, grades, attendance and shadow evaluation.  Some programs have pre-requisites and additional acceptance criteria.  Specific course information is outlined in the individual program descriptions and in the FCPS course guide.

The shadowing & application process begins in November each year and runs through the end of February.  Applications are accepted at any time during that time period.  If you are accepted into a CTC program you will receive confirmation directly from the Career & Technology Center in March.  Applications are accepted after February in the 2nd round only for programs that still have available space.

IMPORTANT:  A shadow experience is required in order to apply to a CTC program.  CLICK HERE for more information about shadowing and to request a shadow.  Applications that are received without a shadow experience will not be considered.

**Shadowing and applications for the 2023-2024 school year have re-opened for the following programs only:

* Agribusiness

* CAD Architecture

* Environmental Landscape Design & Management

Electricity (waitlist only for current 9th & 10th graders)
