Hello Spring Ridge Roos!
I am extremely excited and honored to rejoin the ‘Roo’ community as your principal. My teaching career began right here in 1997. Walking these halls again after so many years brings back amazing memories of students, teachers, and families. I hope to continue building on the traditions and customs that make this school a special place, and pledge to work on establishing positive relationships to further strengthen our school community.
I grew up in south-western Pennsylvania and moved to Maryland to start my teaching career after graduating from Frostburg State University. All of my 25+ years as an educator have been spent working in elementary schools in Frederick County. My wife is a teacher here in FCPS, too, so public education is extremely important to our family. We have 2 children (a daughter in middle school and a son in high school) and we enjoy spending time together outdoors and on the sports fields. I love spending time at my cabin in PA, fly-fishing, hiking, listening to music, playing guitar, and watching all of my favorite Pittsburgh sports teams!
I believe that successful schools are those that have a strong focus on building relationships first. With this foundation in place, we will strive for a safe and nurturing learning environment for students to collaborate and grow. I also believe in holding high expectations for both character and effort. I talk to students often about growing from our mistakes and using grit and determination to tackle challenges. The work may not always be easy, but it will be worth it! I look forward to working with you to make this a great year for our Roos!
