About Brunswick Middle School
"Quality Learning and Positive Personal Development for All" is Brunswick Middle School's mission. Envisioning a high-achieving, low-stress school, we work to ensure academic excellence and to maintain a healthy, inviting school environment. Believing communication is vital, we consult with and survey teachers, parents, students, staff and community members in determining where to place our efforts in school improvement and student achievement.
Our nickname, "The Railroaders," connects to the historical roots of Brunswick as a railroad town. A key link in the Cumberland-to-DC railway, Brunswick attracts passengers headed to work in the District of Columbia. The towns of Brunswick, Knoxville, Point of Rocks and Jefferson compose the BMS enrollment district. Two elementary schools—Brunswick and Valley (in Jefferson) feed into our middle school. We send our students to Brunswick High School.
Sports are very popular here, with the high school teams appearing in recent state football and baseball finals. One of the smallest middle schools in Frederick County, BMS has a "small town" atmosphere. In August 2006, the new addition opened.
