Katie Buckley

Ms. Buckley previously served as Special Education Teacher Specialist for Elementary Schools, SUCCESS Administrator and Instructional Coordinator for Elementary Schools with Frederick County Public Schools.   She was the Mathematics liaison for the Special Education Department.   Ms. Buckley has been a MSDE course instructor for a variety of course topics such as: Meeting the Needs of Students in Mathematics and Using Technology to Create Instructional and Assessment Materials for Alt-MSA Students. In the past, Ms. Buckley has worked with MSDE as a Mod-MSA auditor and to develop professional development modules for the Alternate Maryland State Assessment.  In 2008, Ms. Buckley received the Civitan Club Special Education Teacher of the Year award.  Ms. Buckley taught Special Education for four years in a variety of settings: inclusive, pull out and self-contained (Learning for Life). During the 2012-2013 school year, Ms. Buckley was nominated and accepted into the Maryland State Department of Education’s Special Education Leadership Academy (SELA).  The program offered her the opportunity to learn from mentors with a wealth of knowledge and experience from across the state.

Ms. Buckley completed her undergraduate work at Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland where she became dual certified in elementary and special education.  In 2011, she obtained her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Hood College in Maryland.  She holds an Advanced Professional Certificate in Special Education (Infant to Adult), Elementary Education 1-6 & Middle School and Administrator I and II Certifications, all through the State of Maryland. Currently, Ms. Buckley resides in Frederick County with her family.
