Welcome to Governor Thomas Johnson Middle School (GTJMS) in historic Frederick, Maryland. Since opening in August 2000, GTJMS has served as a model in school design that has captured national attention. At GTJMS, we strive everyday to create an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity, academic achievement, and well-being. Our mission is to empower students for success today and persevere through tomorrow’s 21st century challenges.
I am honored with the opportunity to serve a school with such amazing students, a dedicated staff, and a supportive community. We strive to continue the legacy of success at GTJMS and create a caring, welcoming environment for all of our students. GTJMS is a diverse community of students, educators, support staff, parents and local organizations working collaboratively to provide an academically rigorous education. We are encouraging lifelong learners who take responsibility for their own educational goals and positive personal development. Although the middle school years can go by quickly, the three years at GTJMS will serve as a fundamental foundation for future achievements. Excellence in teaching and learning is paramount to developing productive citizens who have promising and successful lives.
